CAIRO - 12 September 2017: Cairo’s Sufi Bookstore will host a live concert for the band Abdeen, which offers some of the old and modern Sufi verses and traditional songs from Tunisia and Morocco, soon this September.
Sufism signifies the love for God, and Sufi music is a special genre of art that is inspired by and fully attached to the works of Sufi poets. Rumi, Hafiz, Bulleh Shah, and Qawwali are the most renowned Sufi poets in the Sufi culture, known for their eternal search for spiritual ecstasy and their ability to express sincere, devoted love for the one and only Creator.
Speaking of Sufi music, Egyptian singer Mohamed Abdeen will deliver a no-equal fusion of sounds, ranging from Sufi recitation (inshad) from Egypt and North Africa to more contemporary songs, in an acoustic concert scheduled for September 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Cairo’s Sufi Bookstore in Zamalek.
Accompanied by his band, which comprises of Karim El-Shatby, Ahmed Gawish, Bahaa El-Dahbi, Ashraf Osha, Eslam Simba and Mohamed Bondok, Abdeen will mesmerize listeners' ears with Sufi verses and melodies expressing the love for God, together with traditional and contemporary Egyptian songs. The group was founded in 2007 and plays oriental and Sufi music with a "modern contemporary Western music approach.”
