CAIRO – 7 September 2017: Egyptian film Fallen Angels Paradise [Ganet al-Shayateen] will be screened at Cinematheque Alternative Film Center on Tuesday.

Directed by Osama Fawzi, Fallen Angels Paradise is an adaptation of a novel written by the Brazilian author George Amado. It is the second film directed by Fawzi while the screenplay was written by Mostafa Zekri.

The film revolves around a man who chases his desires after leaving his family and wealthy life to live with his friends in a lower socioeconomic class. Dying from an overuse of drugs, the man is remembered through a tribute made by his own daughter.

The plot of the film carries a different twist where the man’s dead body is stolen by his friends and is used to possess a pass for devils and fallen angels.

Released in 1999, the film starred legendary Egyptian actors Mahmoud Hemeida, Lebleba, Amr Waked, Caroline Khalil, Khaled Saleh, Sari al-Nagar and Safwa.

The film has won several awards in Cairo International Film Festival, in Damascus International Film Festival, and Alexandria International Film Festival.
