CAIRO – 7 September 2017: Swiss researcher, Foofwa d'Imobilite, will give a lecture titled, “Gestures Breaking Traditions” at Cairo Grand Library on September 8.
He will share the findings on how the 19th century affected humans’ way of thinking and way of self expression.
This lecture is considered the first one about modern dance and its techniques in Egypt; it is also a part of Breaking Walls Festival’s first edition activities.
The lecture is supported by Pro Helvetia Cairo, the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt, Cairo Grand Library and Breaking Walls Festival.
Breaking Walls Festival is a contemporary arts festival that kicks off on September 7and for 10 days.
The festival is expected to feature a number of international and local artists and a number of international art companies. It is organized by the French Institute in Egypt and the French Institute for Oriental Archaeology.
A number of contemporary dance shows, small musical concerts, workshops, and theatrical performances will be hosted in the festival.
There are a large number of European and Egyptian performers, such as Olivier Dubois (France), Foofwa (Switzerland), Mohamed Shafik (Egypt), Anna Maria Suykerbuyk (Netherlands), Nicole Seiler (Swaziland), and Julia Cheng (UK).
Sin Forma Company (Netherlands) and NDC Company (Egypt) are the main contemporary dance companies which will participate in the Festival.
