Stephen King’s 2017 “It” remake to be released Sept. 8

CAIRO – 7 September 2017: The latest incarnation of horror master Stephen King's “It” is being released on September 8 across theatres in the USA.



Directed by Andrés Muschietti, who previously helmed the 2008 horror film “Mama”, the 2017 remake closely follows the plot of King's 1,000-page novel, which centers on a group of children in both childhood and as adults. The characters seek to kill a horrific, otherworldly entity known as “It”, who preys on children and takes the form of a clown named Pennywise.

The film stars “Stranger Things’” cast member Finn Wolfhard and “Atomic Blonde’s” Bill Skarsgård, who portrays the evil clown.

“It” was previously adapted into an infamous 1990 TV miniseries, starring Tim Curry in his iconic role as the evil, child-eating clown, ”It”. Reception to the current remake has been overall rather positive, currently boasting a 90 percent fresh rating on critic website Rotten Tomatoes and across social media.

A sequel to the film is also in the plan, according to Variety magazine, and will tackle the origins of the demon monster It.
