CAIRO - 3 September 2017: Egypt's General Administration of the Port of Damietta Customs seized an alleged attempt to smuggle a collection of antiquities, dating back to King Louis V of France, the administration announced in a statement on Saturday.

The artifacts include wooden furniture, pottery and hand tools. It was revealed that there were 35 French antiquities that date back to King Louis V, king of France, who died in 987 AD. Investigations also confirmed that the French antiquities belong to the Alawite family.

The Central Administration of Damietta Customs decided to take legal action and released control record for the Ministry of Antiquities. They secured the artifacts in containers to protect the valuable 10th century antiques.
