CAIRO - 31 August 2017: Gypsum Gallery is showcasing their summer art exhibition, called “Paper Trail”, on September 6.

Gypsum Gallery will be hosting this exhibition in collaboration with Adsum Art, where they will display 150 artworks by 12 local artists.

“Paper Trail” focuses on drawings, paintings and monoprints made on paper that represent a memory, a thought, an experience or a place. The artists include Amy Arif, Nada Barak, Shahira Hammad, Mustafa El Husseiny, Ahmed Nagy, Fadwa Ramadan, Hany Rashed, Nehad Said, Noura Seif, Aya Tarek, Moustafa Youssef and Islam Zaher.

Founded in 2013 by Aleya Hamza, Gypsum Gallery provides a platform for new local and international talent, through solo and group exhibitions, publications and other off-site interventions.

Hamza is a Cairo-based independent curator. After finishing her master’s in History of Art at Goldsmiths College in 2001, she conducted lectures on contemporary art at the American University in Cairo.

She also worked as a curator at Townhouse Gallery and the Contemporary Image Collective in Cairo.

Hamza’s artwork and projects are featured internationally in Alexandria, Amsterdam, Beirut, Berlin, Bonn, Budapest, Cairo, London, Odense and Rabat. Her latest exhibition was on display at the Tate Modern in London in 2012 and 2013.
