CAIRO – 30 August 2017: The Cairo Opera House will be hosting the 'Season's Opening Gala Concert' by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra September 9-10, while the Alexandria Opera House will also be holding the concert on September 10, at the 'Sayed Darwish Theater'. Both times are at 8 PM.
Music director Ahmed El Saedi will be leading the Orchestra. A sample of the performances include the "Espana" Rhapsody for Orchestra by Emmanuel Chabrier, Dances of Galanta by Zoltan Kodaly, Dance of the Dead for Piano and Orchestra by Franz Liszt, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite Op. 24 and Alexander Borodin's Polovetsian Dances.
There will also be a soloist piano performance by Tadashi Suenaga and a Chappela Choir, with conductor Maya Gvineria and conductor Ahmed El Saedi.
The Cairo Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating its 59th season. Founded in 1959, it succeeded in introducing the public to classical music, and has also toured many European countries to good reception.
