CAIRO – 29 August 2017: The personal library and collection of ‘Gone with the Wind’ star Vivien Leigh will be going on auction next month in Sotheby's in London. The library will provide an interesting look into her private life.
The library is expected to exceed the original sales estimates of £500,000 ($646,550). Amongst the more interesting parts of the auction include a document signed by Queen Elizabeth I herself, along with books signed by Winston Churchill and Truman Capote. Another highlight is a copy of ‘Gone with the Wind’ book personally given to Leigh by the author Margaret Mitchell.
Other items being auctioned off include paintings, Hollywood memorabilia, jewelry and other items collected through the actress's rich life. This spotlight shows a side of the actress that few would be aware of; not just an accomplished actress, Leigh was a woman of fine taste who loved intellectual pursuits such as art and reading.
