‘Lion’ to screen at Balcon Heliopolis

CAIRO - 27 August 2017: Award-winning film Lion will screen at Balcon Heliopolis on August 28 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Directed by Gary Davis, ‘Lion’, is a biographical film about a five-year-old Indian boy who gets lost miles away from home in Calcutta and later finds a home with an Australian couple.

The film tells the journey of how he sought his biological family after 25 years. It is an adaptation of the novel, ‘A Long Way Home’, by Saroo Brierley.

‘Lion’ stars Dev Patel, Rooney Mara, David Wenham and Nicole Kidman and screened its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2016. It went on to receive six Oscar nominations and a Golden Globe Nomination. It won BAFTA Film Award for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor, Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival 2016, and Golden Frog at Camerimage 2016.

Davis has directed short documentaries including ‘P.I.N.S.’ in 2000, and ‘Alice’ in 2003.
