CAIRO – 26 August 2017: Artist Haytham Assem is to lead a workshop called ‘Gamelyat El Tadafok’ in Cairo revolving around connecting body gestures with music techniques on stage.
Organized by the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary Theater, the workshop is receiving applications until September 4, targeting actors, musicians, singers, and dancers who will learn about collective team work on stage during performed musicals.
A special focus will be on blending music with body gestures and sound to create a full performance relying on sound effects, movements, interactions, and mimics according to the event’s official statement.
The workshop will also focus on sound and body coaching inspired by the Polish theater director Jerzy Grotowski. The curriculum within the workshop is also inspired by religious and spiritual rituals relevant to music and beats. Assem is has been conducting acting workshops in Germany where he is now residing and has specialized in Theater Directing at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and has a Masters Degree in Performing Arts and Acting following his in- depth studies in music.
He has also received training in multiple art institutions including England, Poland, Germany, and Italy where he produced a variety of musical performances.
Assem is also leading workshops in Sinai Orchestral Theater for actors, dancers, and singers.
