CAIRO – 26 August 2017: Poet Mohamed El Esseiry releases a book called ‘I have known them on the Stair of Music’ on Friday, revolving around the origins of contemporary singing in Egypt.

Also Editor in Chief of El Destour newspaper, El Esseiry highlights part of history tracking original Egyptian contemporary singing output in the music scene, according to a statement by state-owned Egynews.

The book is based on stories of musicians who introduced contemporary art to the scene through creativity. El Esseiry mentions a documented story about Algerian singer Warda who was angered by late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez where she claims that he had plagiarized a melody composed by Baleigh Hamdy.

He also tackles other documented events in the music scene such as the rising career of pop singer Mohamed Mounir, Ali El Hagar, and Mohamed El Helw. El Esseiry. He also documented the disappearance of Mohamed Mohy for 10 years.

El Esseiry has previously won several awards including the Journalism Syndicate Award and Dubai’s Award for Journalism. He is the author of many books including ‘Diwan Lel Beyout Shahwa’ (House of Lust), ‘Aghany Yanayer’ (January Songs), and ‘Sowar Mozyfon’ (Fake Revolutionists).
