‘Night on Earth’ to screen on Sunday

CAIRO - 23 August 2017: ‘Night on Earth’ film will screen on Sunday at ROOM Art Space & Cafe from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Every Sunday during August at 8:30 p.m., a film is introduced in the café. Previous movies screened include; ‘Manhattan’ directed by Woody Allen, ‘Paris Je t’aime’ directed by 20 directors, and ‘Lost in Translation’ directed by Sofia Coppola, presented on Sunday 6, 13 and 20 respectively.

The drama-comedy ‘Night on Earth’ is directed and written by Jim Jarmusch and was first released in 1991 in Germany.

It portrays five different cab drivers in five different cities: Paris, Côte d'Ivoire, Rome, Los Angeles and Helsinki where each ride is fraught with high drama reflecting the events taking place in each country at the time.

The film was nominated for CFCA Award at Chicago Film Critics Association Awards in 1993. It also won Independent Spirit Award at Film Independent Spirit Awards in 1993.
