CAIRO – 18 August 2017: Film superstar Al Pacino will be joined by actors Kathy Baker and Greg Grunberg in the lead role for HBO's upcoming biographical drama Joe Paterno.

Pacino is playing the titular role, portraying coach Paterno, whose shining reputation as one of football's best coaches is tarnished by the Penn State child sexual abuse scandal involving assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, which Paterno is believed to have known about yet kept quiet.

Baker will be portraying Paterno's wife, Sue. The actress is best known for her roles in Netflix's comedy the Ranch, and as Joyce in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. Grunberg is Scott Paterno, Sue and Joe's son. Grunberg is a recurring actor in J.J Abrams’ work, spanning from Heroes to Lost. He most recently got attention for his role in Star Wars: the Force Awakens, also by Abrams, where he portrayed the resistance pilot Temmin ‘Snap’ Wexley.

Oscar winning director Barry Levinson, famous for Rain Man and Sleepers, will be directing the film.
