CAIRO – 13 August 2017: Renowned Egyptian singer Ali El Haggar will be performing live at the ongoing Bibliotheca Alexandria (BA) Arts Summer Festival on August 18.
El Haggar graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1979. He was influenced by late Arabic music legend Baligh Hamdy. Hamdy trained El Haggar, Mohamed Mounir and Mohamed El Helw in a band called “El Takht”. The band was formed in the Arabic Music Institution, according to his official Facebook page.

Inspired by poet, cartoonist and painter Salah Jaheen, El Haggar always wanted to sing the late artist’s quatrains. He grew in popularity during the 1980s, when he also began blending authentic Arabic music with new technologies and sound effects that were emerging at the time.

El Haggar recently staged Hekma Hall in El Sawy Culture Wheel on August 5. He performed with a chorus and various artists, including Ahmed Bedeir on drums, Wael El Feshny on tambourine, Hany El Nahal on percussion, and Ahmed El Haggar and Ahmed Raoud on keyboard, among other musicians.

The 15th annual BA Arts Summer Festival kicked off on July 10 and will end on August 26. The festival will feature a multi-disciplinary array of music, theater, cinema and dance through more than 60 artistic events.
