CAIRO – 13 August 2017: The third edition of ‘Institut Du Monde Arabe’ or the Arab World Institute (AWI) Award for Arab Contemporary Creation is opening application doors until September 15 for artists to enroll their artistic works including sculptures and paintings in a competition.
The works will be part of the exhibition theme “The Saga of the Suez Canal from the time of the Pharaoh to the twenty-first Century,” held in Paris.
Organized by AWI, the exhibition is expected to be inaugurated in March 2018, presenting competing art works and awarding the winner a grant worth €5000 ($5,900). The winner will also be provided that chance to display their works at AWI museum collection.
Artists will be given a period from November to January to produce their artworks following the approval of selected works by the official jury that is expected to gather on October 3.The exhibition will then be officially displayed between March 26 and August 5, 2018.
AWI competition requires that artists should be Arab, aged maximum 40 years old, and have never participated in any renowned cultural institution worldwide. Accepted participants will be producing their artworks at their own expenses.
The exhibition will also host several venues as fields of the competition to feature painting, sculpting, drawing, photography, and video production promoting the saga.
