3rd Cairo Arabic Calligraphy International Biennial to open

CAIRO – 8 August 2017: The third edition of Cairo International Biennial of the Arabic Calligraphy Forum will open on Thursday, August 10, and will run to August 24 at the Palace of Arts, the Opera House, at 7 pm.

The Cultural Development Fund sector in the cooperation with the fine arts sector, Cairo Opera House, foreign cultural relations sector and the syndicate of calligraphers have organized this forum.

The inauguration will be attended by members of the forum Higher Committee , subcommittees, members of the Scientific Committee, Arbitration Committees and artist Ahmed Baghdadi.

The forum will honor the international Egyptian artist Ahmed Moustafa along with several artists such as Fakhry Soliman, Mostafa Abdel Rahim and Mouneer Alshaarani.

“Cairo International Biennial of the Arabic Calligraphy forum has a special position among other international forums, and its third edition witnesses great progress,” said the head of Cultural Development Fund sector Ahmed Awad during a press conference held on Sunday.

The book “The Spread of Arabic Calligraphy in the Eastern and Western world” written by the artist and researcher Abdel Fattah will be in the opening of the forum after Minister of Culture Helmy el Nmnam has ordered printing it again.

The forum helps young calligraphers present their works and develop their calligraphy skills ;through workshops provided by the forum, stated the artist Mosaad Khodeir.
