Ismaili folk music to stage El Dammah Theater in August

CAIRO – 7 August 2017: Ismaili folk band El Waziry will be staging El Dammah Theater at El Mastaba Center for Egyptian Folk Music on August 24.

Previously named as El Suhbagiyya band, El Waziry band was established in Ismalia in 1994 through a cooperation with Mohamed El Waziry, a well known player of folk music instrument simsimiyya, and other replicated who met in Portsaid.

The band used to host a weekly folk music performance in Ismailia and following El Waziry’s death in 2008, the band was named El Waziry to honor the memory of their leader.

Despite the band losing their iconic singing leader, they never broke apart and commenced their folk music performance across several gorvenorates in the country including Portsaid, Cairo, Alexandria, Minya and has produced a local album called ‘Walla Zaman’ (Oh Old days).
