CAIRO – 7 August 2017: Three international films were declared in different competition categories, including one that was out of competition, in the Venice Film Festival (La Biennale Di Venezia) that runs between August 30 and September 9.
The three films include 'Zhuibi' (Manhunt) by John Woo, 'L’ordine della cose' by Andrea Segre, and 'L’ Enigma di Jean Rouch a Torino' by Marco di Castri, Paolo Favaro, and Daniele Pianciola, according to a statement released by the festival on Monday.
Zhuibu (Manhunt), that will be presented ‘Out of Competition’, is a crime/thriller movie part of Woo’s portfolio that also includes The Killer and Hardboiled. The film revolves around a Chinese man who is charged for murder in Japan and struggles to prove his innocence; meanwhile he experiences a manhunt by the Japanese police and is attacked by mysterious killers.
Woo had previously received the Golden Lion for Career Achievement in Venice in 2010.
Directed by Segre, L’ordine Delle Cose will be screening in the ‘Special Screenings’, revolving around the story of Corrado, a policeman who is responsible for controlling the flow of immigrants and was assigned to handle a mission in Libya where he then Swada , a woman who is trying to reunite with her husband in Finland. A collaborative work by Marco di Castri, Paolo Favaro, and Daniele Pianciola, the film L’Enigma Di Jean Rouch A Torino will be screening as part of the Documentaries category.
Directed by Alberto Barbera, the 74th Venice International Film Festival is organized by the Biennale and chaired by Paolo Baratta.
