CAIRO – 2 August 2017: Established in 1956, The Port Said War Museum glorifies patriotic memorials of Egypt's wars in the past decade.

Egypt Today sheds light on one of the few war museums in the country, which was opened on the national holiday of the governorate of Port Said in December 23, 1964.

Located on July 23 Street in Port Said, the museum includes several exhibition halls such as ‘Ancient Age’ that feature the history of the governorate in different eras including Islamic, the Construction of Suez Canal, Ancient Egypt, and the 1952 revolution.

Another hall is called the ‘War Hall’ that displays events such as the 1956 war, nationalizing Suez Canal, the El Gamil Battle, the El Berles Naval Battle, and exhibiting some of the weaponry and equipment used by the British invasion in Egypt at the time.

The third hall in the museum is dedicated to the memorial of the 1973 war and recovery of Sinai, and displays some of the Israeli weapons used at the time, according to the official museum website.

Spanning over 7,000 square meters, the museum was last re-developed in 2009.
