CAIRO – 2 August 2017: British auction house Christie's will be holding the first modern and contemporary art sale dedicated to Middle Eastern art in London on October 25.
Originally slated for Dubai, the move to London comes both part of a response to Dubai's faltering economy and also as a way to engage a wider audience, The Art Newspaper reports.
The sale was also originally going to be part of a week called the 'Islamic Art Week;' however Christie's has since changed the name to the 'Middle Eastern Art Week.'
Christie's sale follows the 'Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art' sales in Sotheby in the same week.
