CAIRO - 1 August 2017: Turkey's state broadcaster TRT will be producing a six-part miniseries about the life of times of late Bosnian-Herzegovina President Alija Izetbegovic, who was known as a devout Muslim and nicknamed ‘The Wise King’ by his people.
According to the Daily Sabah, The TRT miniseries will be a joint Turkish and Bosnian effort, featuring actors from both countries. Ahmet Tezcan will be the writer, while Bosnian director Ahmed Imamovic is to direct. The plotline of the series will span from 1944 to 2003, and will involve Izetgovic's love for his wife Halida.
Izetbegovic was born on Aug. 8, 1925 a loyal muslim since his youth thanks to his Turkish grandmother.
After he was elected as President of the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina in December of 1990, a massive ethnic conflict erupted between the Serbs, Croats, and Muslims that lasted for over three years and left devastation in its wake. Izetbegovic had to pick up the pieces, but managed to rule until 2000. He passed away 3 years later at the age of 78.
