CAIRO – 31 July 2017: The Sheikh Zayed Book Award has already received 700 nominations since starting submissions this May. The entries come from across the Arab world, with Egypt making a significant literary contribution with 31 percent of the entries'.
Submissions have also come internationally, from countries such as Canada, Denmark and Australia, among others. With a prize of around DH 7,000,000 it is amongst the richest book awards in the world.
The award, running since 2007, honors the UAE founding President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, who passed away in 2004. The Sheikh Zayed Book Award will be part of the Abu Dhabi Book Fair, running from April 25 to May 1 next year.
