CAIRO – 31 July 2017: A place absolutely worth visiting in Aswan is the Aswan International Sculpture Symposium. The Symposium brings together talented artists from across Egypt and around the world in an annual event, to participate in creating strange and sublime sculptures.

The Symposium has been running for 22 years, with this year's it ran from January 21 to March 11. The symposium began in 1988 when the National Center for Fine Arts carried out studies to introduce new artistic activities that could be held inside and out of Egypt.

The symposium's sculpture's overlook a scenic panorama view of Aswan, which seems to take visitors back in time to when stone sculptures defined Egypt; that long-ago time of Pyramids, Sphinxes and Obelisks. Indeed, the artists show clear inspiration by Egypt's great cultural heritage, with the treatment of some sculptures designed to mimic ancient works, yet with a contemporary touch that creates a truly unique blend.
