HBO to produce miniseries about Chernobyl disaster

CAIRO – 29 July 2017: HBO has ordered a five episode miniseries to explore the Chernobyl nuclear incident with “Mad Men” star Jared Harris on board. The project, aptly titled "Chernobyl," will explore the 1986 incident in Ukraine and the people who tried to stop it.

Known as one of the most horrific man caused disasters in human history, the Chernobyl incident's repercussions are still felt to this day. Harris will play the role of scientist Valery Legasov, who is sent by the Soviets to investigate the incident.

Filming is set to begin in 2018 in Lithuania; director Johan Renck of “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead” is slated to direct.
