CAIRO – 26 July 2017: John Heard loved acting. A look through the many films he played in showed that, no matter how small a role, John was willing to take it with the full breadth of his talent.
The actor, who passed away on Friday, July 21, is best known for his role as Macaulay Culkin's father in the famous Home Alone films, yet his career was considerably broader and more varied, a testament to his skill and passion.
Born in Washington DC, 1945, Heard started as a theatre actor, with his role in Home Alone helping him rise to fame.
He would later get an Emmy nomination for his role as a bad Detective in the TV drama The Sopranos, and would appear in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He dominated the 1980s, starring alongside Jeff Bridges in 1980's Cutter's way, and with the young Tom Hanks in 1988's Big.
John Heard is believed to have died of complications following back surgery.
