CAIRO – 24 January 2025: Al-Azhar's Pavilion at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair is showcasing a selection of historical manuscripts from the Fatimid era.
The 900-year-old manuscripts, sourced from the Al-Azhar Library’s collection, were highlighted in a statement from Al-Azhar on Friday.
Among the most notable manuscripts on display are:
· Al-Adab Al-Kabir by Ibn Al-Muqaffa (532 AH edition)
· Al-Basit fi Al-Tafsir by Al-Wahidi (524 AH edition)
· Diwan Al-Mutanabbi (544 AH edition)
· Al-Jami' Al-Sahih by Al-Bukhari (507 AH edition)
For the ninth consecutive year, Al-Azhar is participating in the Cairo International Book Fair with a dedicated pavilion, reinforcing its role in promoting moderate and enlightened Islamic thought—an approach the institution has championed for over a thousand years.
Located in Heritage Hall No. 4, Al-Azhar's pavilion spans approximately 1,000 square meters and includes several sections, such as a seminar hall, a Fatwa corner, an Arabic calligraphy area, and dedicated spaces for children and manuscripts.
