World-renowned soprano Amira Selim performed in a Christmas concert at the Egyptian Academy in the Italian capital, Rome, which was held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Ahmed Hanno, and upon the invitation of the director of the Academy, Dr. Rania Yahia, on Thursday, December 12th.
Pianist Pascal Rosset took part in the concert. Selim expressed her gladness at holding a concert in a place which includes so many memories, saying: “Since 1929, this place has been regarded as historical. Numerous artists have visited it. I have special memories there as an artist; I held a concert with the Cairo Opera Company. As for my childhood memories, I accompanied my father, visual artist Ahmed Fouad Selim, when he held his exhibition in the eighties, along with my mother who held artistic activities there. Additionally, we stayed in Roma for a year. I’ll never forget the energy of the place, its artistic value, surroundings, and the famous gardens of Villa Borghese”.
