The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been recognized as one of the most beautiful museums in the world for 2024 by the Prix Versailles.
Egypt’s Ambassador to Paris and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Alaa Youssef, accepted the certificate of recognition during a ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
In his speech, Ambassador Youssef emphasized the museum’s unique cultural significance, highlighting its architectural design that seamlessly blends ancient Egyptian history with the surrounding heritage of the Giza Pyramids.
He noted that the design reflects a modern artistic vision while incorporating advanced structural engineering techniques to ensure the project’s environmental sustainability.
The ambassador outlined the museum’s key features, noting that it is the largest museum globally dedicated to the artifacts of a single civilization—the Pharaonic civilization. He invited attendees to visit the museum, which is currently in a partial opening phase ahead of its official inauguration, to witness its unparalleled collection.
The Prix Versailles, established in 2015, is an international award recognizing excellence in architecture. It honors structures such as museums, universities, and airports that exemplify originality, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
