CAIRO - 24 November 2024: Renowned Dutch rower Rob van der Aar will embark on a week-long rowing journey along the Nile, starting from Beni Suef and concluding in Cairo.

This comes in light of the "Rowing for Egypt 2024" project launched by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion (EGATP) upon directives from Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy to diversify the tourism offerings of Egypt,

The project aims to showcase Egypt's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, while also promoting the country's diverse tourism and archaeological assets. It seeks to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the Nile River as a vital environmental and cultural resource.

Amr El-Qadi, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, emphasized that the authority’s involvement in this event aligns with Egypt's broader efforts to collaborate with foreign embassies, particularly in initiatives that highlight Egypt's tourism potential.

He noted that this event targets enthusiasts of sports tourism, especially adventure tourism, and fits within the authority's broader promotional strategy to spotlight Egypt’s diverse tourism assets.

Additionally, it underscores the societal role played by the authority in partnership with charitable organizations.

The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo, the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, and Aspire Company, under the auspices of several Egyptian ministries.
