The 45th edition of Cairo International Film Festival granted the Faten Hamama Excellence Award to superstar Ahmed Ezz.
At the beginning of his speech, Ezz shared how he launched his acting career, his longstanding relationship with CIFF, and his past desire to be invited to attend the festival.
“About 24 years ago, I had to choose between continuing my work and starring in my first movie, and I chose to debut my acting career without my family’s desire. I was shooting and the Cairo Film Festival was about to start, and I was waiting for an invitation to attend the festival to please my family. I walked on the red carpet, and no one recognized me. Days have passed, and now I have come to stand here and be honored and receive an award bearing the name of Faten Hamama which for me constitutes another award, also I received the award from the Minister of Culture and the unparalleled superstar, Hussein Fahmy. Unfortunately, the honor has come, and my father and mother have passed away” Ezz said.
Ezz added that this award motivates him to present more and work even harder.
At the end of his speech, Ezz said “I would like to dedicate this award to a star who is very dear to me and inspired me a lot, the megastar Adel Emam.
