Dr. Issa Zidan, Director General of Restoration and Transport of Antiquities at the Grand Egyptian Museum, announced that more than 200 artifacts from King Tutankhamun’s collection, located in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, will be transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum before the official opening.
Zidan said that the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir includes more than 220 artifacts from the possessions of King Tutankhamun, including the mask, the gilded coffin, and the throne chair, all will be transferred to the the Grand Egyptian Museum before the official opening of GEM’s exhibition halls.
Zidane mentioned that the treasures of Tutankhamun, also known as the Golden Pharaoh, will be showcased in a dedicated hall at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The display area allocated to it at the Grand Egyptian Museum will be seven times larger than the area it had at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
This will allow visitors to fully and attractively view the king's possessions using the latest display techniques found in international museums.
The Grand Egyptian Museum is Egypt's significant cultural contribution to the world in the 21st century.
