Alexandria Hosts the Second Edition of "A Tale of Two Cities: Athens and Alexandria"

 

Alexandria is to host the second edition of "A Tale of Two Cities: Athens and Alexandria" from October 15th to November 4th, organized by "Culturvator / Art D'Égypte" in collaboration with Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

 

 

 

The exhibition aims to strengthen the ties between Egypt and Greece by creating a visual dialogue that explores the rich artistic and cultural fabric shared by both countries.

 

 

 

Through the works of contemporary Egyptian and Greek artists, who draw inspiration from the cultural heritage of both nations, the exhibition provides a deeper understanding of the enduring bonds between these two civilizations.

 

 

 

The Acropolis Museum in the Greek capital, Athens, hosted the first edition of the exhibition last June, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Egyptian Embassy in Greece. This is the first time that the Acropolis has hosted a contemporary art exhibition.

 

 

 

 

Founder of "Culturvator /  Art D'Égypte", Nadine Abdel Ghaffar, stated, "Our events always aim to build a bridge between ancient and contemporary art, and the ‘Tale of Two Cities’ exhibition is a celebration of the past and present of Alexandria and Athens. These works transcend geographical and temporal boundaries, demonstrating the cultural exchange between the two civilizations and its manifestation in contemporary art”.

 

 

 

The second edition in Alexandria is equally significant, taking place at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; a symbol of culture and art in both the ancient and the modern world. The exhibition will feature works by Egyptian and Greek artists, showcasing the common elements between the two civilizations that continue until today.
