Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, Badr Abdelatty visited the headquarters of the Egyptian Consulate General in New York City, to inspect the Egyptian artifacts that were recently recovered.
The recovered Egyptian artifacts included valuable pieces dating back to the ancient Pharaonic era and the Ptolemaic era, including a gilded wooden mask, a red granite foot, an Egyptian alabaster vase, and other items.
Abdeatty directed the necessity of completing all the procedures needed for shipping the recovered artifacts to Egypt, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the relevant authorities in Egypt, and explained Egypt’s interest in recovering all the smuggled Egyptian artifacts.
Over the past 10 years, Egypt has succeeded in recovering 29,300 artifacts including the recovery of 17 artifacts from the United States of America, the most prominent of which is a coffin known as the Green Coffin.
