Palestinian filmmaker and journalist Bisan Atef Owda has received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Hard News Feature Story for her short-form report “It’s Bisan From Gaza and I’m Still Alive.”

In her report, Owda documents her daily life incidents in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israeli aggression that has devastated the region since October 7th, 2023.

Earlier this year, Owda won a Peabody Award for “It’s Bisan From Gaza and I’m Still Alive.”

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, emphasized the dire situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He highlighted the ongoing violations by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank, which have breached international humanitarian law and disregarded peace agreements. Abdel Aty pointed out that Israel's actions, combined with its non-cooperation with ceasefire efforts led by mediators, are the main cause of the current crisis.

The Minister’s remarks were made during an event hosted by the International Peace Institute on the Middle East, held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the event, Abdel Aty stressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has become unbearable, calling for an urgent increase in international relief efforts. He pointed to the unprecedented destruction caused by Israeli occupation forces, in addition to the tragic loss of over 40,000 lives.

Abdel Aty reiterated that resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is essential for security and stability in the region. He outlined Egypt's position on the issue, which centers on achieving a solution that fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, viable state based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
