CAIRO – 24 July 2017: In coincidence with the commemorative celebrations for the revolution of 1952, Minister of Culture Helmy el-Namnam inaugurated an arts exhibition in Luxor governorate titled ‘Luxor…The Culture Capital of the Arab World’ on Monday July 24.
Every year on July 23, Egypt celebrates the national day of the revolution where a group of army officers led by Muhammad Naguib and Gamal Abdel Nasser seized power and announced victory over King Farouk’s regime, which was blamed for the country’s massive corruption and government’s poor performance.
The arts exhibition, which is slated to last for the coming 15 days, will feature a variety of 75 paintings by Egyptian artists and others coming from different countries.
“This exhibition serves as a form of the strong bonds of solidarity between Arab nations and solidifies the vital role that arts play in development of the Arab identity,” dean of Luxor’s fine Arts faculty, Dr. Ahmed Mohi Hamza added.
