CAIRO- 24 July 2017: Sefsafa Band, an independent music project, will preform on July 25 at Makan Egyptian Center for Culture and Arts.
Based in Alexandria, the music group was formed in 2016 aspiring to combine both Egyptian traditional music and Reggae to create an interesting new take on both music genres. Through music, Sefsafa deepens the contemporary expression of identity in modern Alexandria.
Sefsafa band consists of 5 members; Semo Siam, Hesham Gamal, Maged Serag, Mohamed Engoma, Mido Renga. They have performed in various venues in Cairo and Alexandria including Room Art Space, DA HOUSE, Alexandria Center of Arts, Bibliotheca Alexandrina and BA Arts Center among many others.
Makan Egyptian Center for Culture and Arts aspires to close the gap between Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan African cultures by presenting musicians who are interested in reviving the cultural scene. The center has hosted many bands including Mawawil, Nass Makan, and Jafraa Tribes among others.
