CAIRO – 23 July 2017: Art compilers or ‘Mobarmgo el Fan’ band has been translating songs from Egyptian heritage such as folk, religious and classic songs into different languages to spread Egyptian culture across world since 2014.
The five member band led by an audio engineer Wessam Magdy aims to spread Egyptian culture through its songs as he thinks that the language is a barrier before spreading the Egyptian culture to people of different nationalities.
The team composing of singers and translators does not translate Egyptian songs literally as they focus more on the songs' melodies and when the translation affects melodies negatively the team translates the meaning only not the words.
Art compilers team has started to translate 74 songs from Arab and Egyptian heritage since 2014, but they have published their works and launched their official Facebook page in 2017.
In Ramadan 2017, the team has won its popularity when it published religious song ‘Mawlai’ of Naqshbandi, performed by one of the team's members Muezzin Ahmed Abdul Aal.
The team is currently working on dubbing Egyptian films like Indian and Turkish episodes. “We are dubbing Egyptian films and episodes with English and Arabic voices," said Magdy.
The idea of forming a team to translate Egyptian songs from Arabic to English came to of Magdy's head when some of his Chinese friends asked him about the meaning of some Egyptian songs they heard in parties.
