The Palestinian short “The Deer’s Tooth” to hold its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival.

The film will premiere as part of the French festival’s Cinéfondation Section, screening during La Cinef Program 2 on Wednesday, May 22nd at 11 am at the Buñuel Theatre on the fifth floor of the Palais.
 
 
 
 
“The Deer’s Tooth” centers around a young man from a refugee camp who embarks on a perilous journey in order to fulfill his little brother’s wish: To throw his milk tooth into the sea.
 
 
 
 
Discussing the film’s concept at length ahead of the film’s debut at Cannes, Saif Hammash explained that “This film is an attempt to portray the internal conflict that Palestinians, especially those living in a refugee camp, live with between their inability to adapt to the imposed political and historical reality on one hand and their desire for self-fulfillment despite the dangers surrounding them.”
 
 
 
Directed, written, and edited by Saif Hammash, “The Deer’s Tooth” was lensed by Ibrahim Handal, with music by Victor Kawwas, and stars Wisam Al-Jafari, Reada Ghazaleh, and Yasmin Shalaldeh.
