The 77th British Academy Film Arts Awards ceremony known as the BAFTAs was held on February 18, to honor the best national and foreign films of 2023.
BAFTA awards ceremony took place at the Royal Festival Hall within London's Southbank Centre.
Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" took the lion share of the BAFTA awards.
"Oppenheimer" received seven Baftas in total, including the blue-riband award for best film.
After accepting his own award for best director, Nolan said that while the film ended on a “necessary” note of despair, he also wanted to highlight individuals and organisations who had worked to reduce the world’s stock of nuclear arms.
“They show the potential of efforts for peace,” he said.
Among the film’s other awards were those for best actor and best supporting actor, given respectively to Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.
Despite five nominations, the other half of the Barbenheimer trend "Barbie" movie didn't receive any award.
While Robbie was in contention for best actress, the award was given to Emma Stone for her turn in the Promethean fantasy "Poor Things".
Here are the most prominent awards:
1-Best Film (Oppenheimer)
