Dr. Selim Hassan was chosen as the main character of the 55th edition of Cairo International Book Fair.
Hassan was an acclaimed Egyptologist who has wrote a number of valuable books about the artifacts he had discovered, presenting very important productions to society and Egyptian culture, which have proven to become a guide for new generations studying antiquities.
Dr. Hassan was also the dean of Egyptian archaeologists, and has received many diplomas for archeology, Egyptian language and religion, and ancient hieroglyphics from various universities across Europe.
Dr. Hassan was later assigned to teach at the Department of Archeology.
He was involved in the first excavations in the Pyramid area and later also discovered the walls of King Tuthmosis IV’s courtyard at the base of the Sphinx.
He was responsible for the discoveries of the pyramids of Queen Khentakaus and eight additional tombs.
Before his death, Dr. Hassan was working on his encyclopedia “Ancient Egypt” which is the documentation of the history and civilization of the historic era.
The encyclopedia is considered a significant document and praised highly by historians and scholars.
