CAIRO - 1 February 2024: Visitors to the Cairo International Book Fair flocked to the Egyptian National Library and Archives booth in Hall 2, Booth B2, during the fair's 55th edition, which is being held at the Cairo International Exhibition Centre in the Fifth Settlement. The fair is scheduled to run until February 6th.
Among the top-selling titles in the booth are "The Eyes of History," "Wonders of Monuments," "News of the Countries," "The Stages of the Pilgrims," "The Chair of the Caliphate is Vacant," and "The End of the Arabs in the Arts of Literature." Other titles include "The Selected Pearl in the Proven Drugs," "Al-Hasan bin Haytham: Research and Visual Discoveries," and "The Book of Muhammad Ali the Great."
As is always the case, the fair features a large number of Egyptian, Arab, and foreign publishers. The new edition of the fair, which is being held on an area of 80,000 square meters, with a total area of 5 exhibition halls, features the participation of 1,200 publishers from 70 countries from around the world. This year, the number of exhibitors is 5,250.
The presence of the Kingdom of Norway as the guest of honor at the fair this year is a sign of the Arab culture's desire to engage with the culture of Northern Europe (the Scandinavian Peninsula), and to introduce the world to Egyptian and Arab creativity.
This provides a broad horizon for cultural and creative exchange, and for direct interaction between creators and the public, with their different cultural streams and tributaries. It is a testament to the Ministry of Culture's commitment to cultural justice within Egypt and openness to human cultures.
