The 55th edition of Cairo International Book Fair.
The 55th annual Cairo International Book Fair kicked off today at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.
The fair’s cultural activities, will kick start from January 25 to February 6, under the slogan “We Create Knowledge, We Preserve The Word”.
Kingdom of Norway is this year’s guest of honour. The fair will have five exhibition halls.
Egyptian Egyptologist Selim Hassan is this year’s personality, while the Egyptian writer Yachoub El Sharony who is one of the pioneers of children’s literature across the Arab world, is the personality of the year at the children’s exhibition.
1200 Arab and foreign publishers and official organizations will be participating, coming from 70 countries world wide.
The Cairo book fair is the largest and oldest book fair in the MENA area the was launched in 1969.
The exhibition originally was held at the Opera Square.
The Minister of Culture stated that the current session is the most distinguished in the history of the International Book Fair.
The fair has contributed to establishing and building Egyptian and Arab minds.
