The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the retrieval of a number of Egyptian artifacts from the Whanganui Regional Museum and Southland Museum in New Zealand.
The newly retrieved artifacts arrived in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, to be subjected to the needed preservation and restoration procedures.
The recovered artifacts include parts of mummies and human remains from the ancient Egyptian civilization, a mummified falcon, textile remains and cartonnage.
The retrieval of the artifacts came within the framework of the policy of the General Administration for the Recovery of Antiquities that communicates with international museums to return Egyptian artifacts especially human remains, based on the rules of the international museums approved by the International Council of Museums.
