Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting on November 23, to review the current status of the Grand Egyptian Museum project.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Minister of Local Development Major General Hisham Amin, Minister of Civil Aviation Lieutenant General Mohamed Abbas Hamed, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa, Advisor to the President for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and the project supervisor Major General Atef Moftah, among others.
At the onset of the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly reiterated his periodic commitment to overseeing the execution of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the development of its surrounding areas.
The aim is to address any obstacles and accelerate the pace of the project.
During the meeting, Major General Atef Miftah, the project's general supervisor, presented an overview of the project's execution status, including completed works on the main museum building, encompassing both the museum and service sections, as well as surrounding structures like the entrance building, ticketing building, restaurant, pyramid, and the multi-purpose building.
The presentation also covered the hanging obelisk square, surrounding gardens, and existing and new car parking areas.
Major General Atef Moftah detailed ongoing works, including the completion of exhibition preparations in the main display hall of the main museum building, the King Khufu Boats Museum, and the Front Square.
He also discussed the enhancement of capacity in waiting areas, the completion of the P8 multi-purpose building, and the waiting area behind the King Khufu Boats Museum.
Throughout the presentation, the overall progress, execution rates, and readiness of the surrounding areas were highlighted.
This included the erection of walls, improvement of adjacent housing, landscaping, lighting, and the tourist promenade.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly sought assurance from the Minister of Civil Aviation regarding the operational status of Sphinx Airport. The minister affirmed that the airport is functioning well.
