Al Wathaeqya channel announced screening a series of interviews titled “October Fe Eiyoun El Alam” ( October In The Eyes Of The World).
The series which will kick start on Sunday, October 1, at 11 pm will house a number of interviews with foreign military leaders, who served for many years in several military schools around the world, in addition to international historians and academics specializing in modern military history and strategic analysis.
Head of Documentary Production Sector of the United Media Services Ahmed El Deriny will perform these interviews on the occasion of the golden Jubilee of 6th of October war.
These interviews are tailor made to
explain and analyze the glorious war from a military, strategic and historical perspective, shedding the light on the Egyptian strategic deception plan as well as crossing the Suez Canal plan, the development stages of the war, a comparison between the Egyptian military operations room and the Israel military operations room at that time, the most important battles in the war, and the stances of the international powers at that time.
One of the interviews will be with Giorgio Battisti who is an acclaimed Lieutenant General in the Italian Army. His last assignment was Commander Italian Army Training and Doctrine Command in Rome. He retired on October, 11th 2016, after 44 years of military service. In 2001, he was appointed as the first Commander of the Italian Contingent during the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. During his career he has held several Staff appointments, ranging from Head of the Italian Army OPS Room to Chief Current Ops to Head of the General Affairs Department at the Army General Staff, and from Chief of Staff at the Italian Operational Land Forces HQ in Verona to the Italian Army Official Spokesperson in Rome.
The series includes a special interview with Colonel Ralph Thiele who is the President of EuroDéfense-Germany, Chairman of the Berlin based Political-Military Society and the Owner and Managing Director of StratByrd Consulting, Andernach, Germany. Thiele is representing the German Ministry of Defense as Member Advisory Board of the European Centre of Excellence for Hybrid Threats, Helsinki, Finland. He is also Member Advisory Board of the German Employers Association. Thiele brings 25 years’ experience in top national and international political-military leadership and policy assignments.
The series will contain also an interview with French military advisor Pierre Razoux, the academic and research director of the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Strategic Studies (La Fondation méditerranéenne d’études stratégiques -FMES) based in Paris, who holds a PHD for his thesis in modern military history, and published his first book on October 1973 War in 1999. Previously, he was Director of Research and Advisor at the Institute of Strategic and Military Studies affiliated to the French Ministry of Defense (IRSEM).
The series will house a long interview with George Walter who is considered one of the most prominent military historians in the world, professor of military and political history at Baylor University, historian and lecturer at the College of Command and General Staff College and the author of The 1973 Arab-Israeli War: The Albatross Of Decisive Victory” book in which he described the October War as a military lesson for Israel and the United States of America alike.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the 6th of October victory, Al Wathaeqya Channel is delivering extensive coverage by presenting a series of documentaries dedicated to the historic October War. These newly unveiled documentaries unveil previously undisclosed secrets about the iconic crossing of the Suez Canal and provide a comprehensive narrative of the October Victory's 50th anniversary.
This endeavor is a collaborative effort between the Department of Morale Affairs of the Armed Forces and United Media Services, aimed at celebrating the glorious October victory. The program lineup includes documentary series, special programs, a diverse selection of films, and daily series scheduled for airing from mid-September until the end of October.
United Media Services' programs and documentaries offer unprecedented insights, unveiling concealed information, secrets, and hitherto unrevealed facts. They present exclusive footage and testimonies, shedding light on the indomitable heroism displayed by Egyptian commanders and officers during the 1973 Sinai conflict.
This comprehensive initiative demonstrates a remarkable synergy across all sectors of UMS, including its networks, channels, programs, newspapers, websites, and radio stations. It seeks to offer both Egyptians and global audiences the opportunity to discover new details and exclusive releases for the first time. It also showcases rare documents related to this iconic and historic war.
The primary objective of this extensive coverage is to present the complete Egyptian narrative of the 6th of October War, which unfolded five decades ago in 1973. It immortalizes the valor of Egyptian heroes who reclaimed their land, ensuring that all information and facts are accessible to generations who did not witness this war. This effort is especially crucial in the face of deliberate attempts to obscure the truth and distort historical facts.
