The management of Sharm El-Sheikh International Theater Festival for Youth (SITFY) -chaired by director Mazen El-Gharabawy- released the poster of the eighth edition, scheduled to take place in November, 2023 in Sharm El-Sheikh.
This year, the poster is designed by director Hesham Ali who stated that the main theme of the poster is focusing on one of the most significant theater pillars; “the red curtain”.
When the audiences see this curtain, they remember the theater. Furthermore, he pointed out that he inserted some theatrical elements in the poster, such as: red curtain, stage lighting and spotlight.
He added: Since it is the eighth edition -number 8 is so unique-, I thought of using it in an attractive way. I wanted to create a link between number 8 and the spotlight. In the poster, number 8 is inserted in a creative and indirect way within the spotlight, along with the actress. In most of my works, I focus on the idea of “no time and no place”. As for the design of this poster, I focus on the discrepancy between color, shadow and light.
The previous edition of SITFY bore the name of the iconic artist Nabil Al-Alfi. Veteran actress Samiha Ayoub is the honorary president of SITFY and star Mohamed Sobhy is the president of SITFY’s higher committee. Dr. Engy El-Bestawy is the managing director of SITFY. The festival is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevine Al-Kilani and South Sinai Governor, Major-General Khaled Fouda.
