Egyptian violinist Salma Sorour becomes the youngest member in Suisse Romande Orchestra

After passing multiple tests, the 20 years old violinist Salma Sorour joined the first violin section of Suisse Romande Orchestra in Geneve becoming the youngest member ever of the acclaimed orchestra.

Commenting on this great achievement, Sorour wrote on her social media accounts "It is my pleasure to announce my acceptance in one of the greatest orchestras in Europe Orchestre de la Suisse Romande for a tutti first violin position, I’m 20 years old, by far the youngest in the orchestra, so wish me luck! This is one of the greatest things I have achieved in my life, and I’d like to specially thank Mido El Shwekh for his efforts with me to play as I did in the audition, and for the welcoming and kind person he is, it’s really a pleasure to know him. I would like to thank prof. Medhat Abdel-salam for his efforts with me as well, and for lifting up my spirits and making me believe in myself when sometimes I felt unqualified for this position, it all came together because of them."

It is worth mentioning that Sorour participated in the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade, playing a solo piece composed by  Hesham Nazih, accompanied by the Egyptian United Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by renowned maestro Nader Abbassi.
