Al Wathaeqya ( The documentaries) channel announced presenting the documentary series titled “El Ayan” ( The Notables) in June.

" El Ayan" tackles the real life stories of the most prominent figures in Egyptian villages and upper Egypt during the first half of the 20th century including Abdelhay Pasha Khalil, Nomaan Pasha El Assar, Ahmed Pasha Qorashy, Mohamed Bek El Shenawy, Fakhry Bek Abdelnour among others.

“ El Ayan” series will document the political, social and economic transformations that Egypt has experienced during this era, by highlighting the important roles played by these acclaimed figures to support the Egyptian nation at all levels, whether with money or effort.

The documentary series will present as well a set of documents and testimonies that highlight the challenges national capitalism has faced at that time in order to strengthen the Egyptian economy, and Egyptianizing industries that were monopolized by foreigners alone without the existance of a local partner for them including the spinning and weaving industry.

“El Ayan” also refutes in its episodes a number of rumors and falsehoods that haunted a large number of notables at that time, in addition to excavating the parliamentary contributions of these acclaimed figures, how they became mayors and how they significantly contributed to the establishment of a number of political parties.
