CAIRO - 1 May 2023: When we talk about the most important civilizational and tourism projects in Egypt, which coincide with the launch of the new republic, we should proudly mention the project to revive the path of the Holy Family in the country.
This project, which comes within the framework of promoting religious tourism and an affirmation of the message of peace and tolerance, which is the most prominent title of Egypt in its history, so that it will always remain the meeting place of civilizations and religions.
The Holy Family Path project includes the blessed journey of the Virgin Mary, her son Christ, peace be upon him, and Jerusalem, Joseph Al-Najjar, to the land of Egypt, escaping from the oppression of King Herod, the ruler of Palestine.
The path of the Holy Family represents a historical and religious importance to the peoples of the whole world, and it is considered one of the global religious heritage that Egypt is unique from other countries of the world, thanks to which the Egyptian Coptic Church assumed a special religious position among the Christian churches in the world.
One of the most important points of the path of the Holy Family in Egypt is their visit to the desert of Wadi El-Natroun in Buhaira Governorate, in which the executive authorities intensify their efforts in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to develop and prepare the path of the Holy Family to be a witness to Egypt's civilized and human history.
The efforts of state institutions varied to develop the path of the Holy Family in Wadi El-Natroun, including the restoration of archaeological sites and Coptic monasteries located on this path, in addition to developing tourism services there and raising the efficiency of the roads leading to it, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and the Civil Coordination Agency.
During the past year, the Wadi El-Natroun area in Beheira witnessed the experimental opening of the Holy Family Path, in the presence of the Ministers of Tourism and Local Development, in preparation for its official inauguration in a global celebration befitting this humanitarian and civilized project.
The plan to develop the path of the Holy Family in Wadi El-Natroun included works to raise the efficiency of the tourist infrastructure, restore Coptic monasteries, especially the restoration of Anba Bishoy Monastery, and prepare the courtyards of Anba Bishoy and Al-Suryan Monasteries for the arrival of tourist delegations.
As well as constructing new roads to pave the way for the entry of tourist cars and buses, providing all services and informative boards, and establishing international hotels to serve this cultural and tourist project.
The plan to develop the path of the Holy Family also included the exploitation of the Al-Hamra spring area for environmental, therapeutic and spiritual tourism purposes, as it is one of the points of the path and adjacent to the monasteries.
For her part, Dr. Nihal Balbaa, Deputy Governor of Buhaira, confirmed the intensification of efforts to implement all service and development projects related to the path of the Holy Family in Wadi El Natr0un.
She added that paving and beautification works were carried out to serve the Holy Family Path project, with a length of 24 kilometers, at a value of 44 million pounds, such as Deir Al-Anba Bishoy Road, Deir Al-Saryan Road, Beit Al-Wadi Resort Road.
