Sawiris Cultural Awards open for applicants

CAIRO - 18 July 2017: Sawiris Foundation for Social Development announced the beginning of application process for the 13th round of Cultural Awards. The application period is from July 17 to August 24.

Sawiris Foundation is a “grant making” foundation established in 2001. Its first donors were the Sawiris family who e invested in social development in Egypt. Sawiris Foundation values the positive impact of art and culture in society. As an expression of its appreciation of artists and the great contribution artists and novelists have made to culture and social development, the Sawiris Foundation launched the Cultural Awards in 2005.

The Cultural Awards encourage emerging novelists to have their voices heard as well as established writers. There are different categories for the awards. The first award category is ‘Best Novels and Collections of Short Stories Award’ for Established Writer and Award for Emerging Writer. The second award category is ‘Best Screenplays’ followed by ‘Best Playwritings’ and ‘Best Literature Critique.’ Monetary prizes for the winners will be presented at the Cultural Award Ceremony.
